This was my first foray into Belinda Alexandra's writings, and I have to admit words don't do enough justice to express how grateful I am that I stumbled upon it. It opened the rest of her works to my eyes. The combination of magnificent storytelling and thorough research by Belinda, and beautiful voice of Caroline Lee, transport the listener or reader into the story. I have read and reread this novel numerous times since and each experience leaves me with what I can only describe as a bookYou know that feeling where you feel as though you know the character, the feeling that they are a part of you and you just want to cry with sadness yet joy? I feel like that right now. Sapphire Skies was a beautifully written book and I cannot fully express how much I love it. There is much "me" in this beautiful story in the cases of me loving aviation along with having a Russian background and a love for animals. Sapphire skies by Belinda Alexandra is one of my favourite novels that I have
Most of this book was really good. The history in it was really interesting. I also liked the way the authors writing style but the end for me was really disappointing. I found it a huge let down from such a good build up. I think it would have been better not to go into how the male character was feeling about the main female character. The whole spiritual thing at the end for me made it unrealistic after such a good build up.
An intense and emotional story set in the backdrop of Stalins Russia. Natalia Azarova is an ace pilot and pin-up girl who fell in love before going missing in action in the forest near the Russian Ukrainian border. Follow her life and struggles to try to return to her family and the love of her life. A Kremlin's secret and ultimate betrayal led everyone to believe that she had betrayed her beloved Russia. A story of love, loyalty, honour and forgiveness. Absolutely loved the book.
I absolutely love Belinda Alexandra books. Definitely one of my favourite authors. Her books are like an addictive story and history lesson all rolled into one. I enjoyed learning about the types of things that happened in Russia during the war and also seeing some familiar characters mentioned from her first book White Gardenia. From the love stories between Natasha and Valentin and Lily and Luka, I was enthralled from the very beginning. The way the government treated Natasha and her family
Thoroughly enjoyed the story, in spite of descriptive outlines of the horrors of war. A love story to transcend all others kept me turning the pages only to be disappointed with the outcome. Some would be satisfied, but I expected something different. The overarching sense was sad, and I need to read something happy now to clear my head. However, I look forward to reading more by this author, because she is a mature writer who involves you in the story and characters so much that I've been
Another incredible read by Belinda Alexandra not really surprising though as Belinda is a fantastic author who has that magical gift to transport the reader to another place and time. The historical background is well-researched as we follow ace female pilot Natalya in WWII. The backdrop of Stalins Russia is intense and powerful and when Natalyas plane is shot down by the Germans, she vanishes without a trace. This is an emotional, beautifully written page turner.. loved it.
