This was my first book I've read among "The Cat Who...." series. One day I looked around a mystery section in my local library and saw lots of books with titles starting with "the cat who." With no information on the author and previous stories, I picked this book, which was the 25th addition. Before I read it, I was amazed with such a long series (I usually am) and probably had high expectations on this book. I thought that the author could not have been able to write this series up to more

I love this series, but this book is missing something. The mystery aspect is wrong and the interaction between my beloved characters seems flat. It was all right, but I really love the earlier books.

Lillian Jackson Braun loves her characters and so do I. They live simple lives, full of rich experiences. They enjoy friendships & reading and their cats. Mystery intrudes & Koko, Mr. Qs cat, helps the journalist solve that mystery. Nothing too sexy, or scary, or violent ever intrudes. Thats what the author provides, and I, the reader, appreciate. This one involves an elderly film star who returns to her hometown with greedy nephew in tow. How did her brother die? What does the nephew

The surprise at the end was the murderer who murdered the murderer, which made me give this book a 3 star, instead of the 2 star rating that the rest of the book deserved. I am a huge fan of this series but except for the last few pages, this one was not very engaging.

I have read better mysteries and found this a little bit boring. The book centers itself in a town called Pickax which is located in Moose County. After 60 years of living in Hollywood Thelma Thackeray comes back to live in Pickax and open a movie house. Quill as he is affectionately known is a newspaper columnist and befriends Thelma. Quill has 2 cats who have an uncanny knack for identifing people who are good or bad and this leads Quill on the lookout for investigating troublesome intents.I

When I read this series, its because I want a comfortable, cozy mystery, and The Cat Who tales achieve that via its hometown characters. This installment, however, had most of the plot focus on out of towners with minimal connections to series regulars, and almost all of the action took place off page, recounted via diary entries and audio recordings of Qwill. Ill still pick up these books when my mood dictates it, but Im looking forward to finishing these later novels so that I can return to

Another fun book with Quill, Koko, YumYum, Weatherby Goode, Bushy and all the other fictional friends I feel I know after the 25th book in the series. Some readers thought the books at the close of the series were not as good as the previous ones. Sure, the mystery is not as surprising but for me, reading the series is like visiting Quill and the gang for the few hours it takes to read each book. And there are always new characters who are catalysts for yet a new adventure on Moose County.
