"Spoiler"!! All I can say is WOW! This was one of the best books I have ever read. I love the excitement and the tension that this book institutes. The book follows the events in Otto's life (Main Character) as he attends a school for super villains known as H.I.V.E, or the Higher Institute of Villainous Education. The setting takes place in Serbia while the student's known as Alpha's are on a training mission known as "The Hunt". The main struggle is between Otto and his friends, against anThis is just a fun series - can't believe my whole library system only has one copy of each book! Like that you find out more about Raven in this one. Reading these at the same time as my 10 year old.
Many things written about this series call H.I.V.E. something like the dark side of Hogwarts. There is definitely a similarity in that a group of young "students" develop fast friendships while fighting their enemies (in addition to their studies, of course). This was my first read in the series, so I haven't seen the characters develop. As a librarian during the early years of the Harry Potter books I saw communities where Rowling's books were bad-mouthed because they were supposedly promoting
Aftershock Peter LinMark Walden Otto Malphense has hatched a grand scheme. He plans to steal the answers of their upcoming exams as well as gain information about an activity they are participating in, The Hunt. But when his plan goes wrong, the Hunt goes wrong as well. Instead of conducting the usual Hunt, the students of H.I.V.E are ambushed. Otto and his friends nearly die, but with the help of their friend Raven, they escape. But at the cost of two of their friends. I immensely enjoyed this
This is not usually a book I'd decide to pick up but I felt somewhat guilted into it when a free copy arrived in the mail with a note saying "Dear Shannon, Thought you might appreciate a reading copy". Gee, you shouldn't have. But by golly these book reps certainly know what they're doing, without this note, I would never have read and thus never have recommended this series EVER. It seems however that this is actually a fantastic series.Granted I started on number 7 so I blundered my way
Aftershock is yet another great addition to the H.I.V.E.series. It's a page turner but watch out for the cliffhanger. It's a big one...Scariness Factor: None, reallyContent Issues: Violence, disregard for the laws of common man, glorification of being a villain, blurring of ideas of right and wrong, children in perilA note on my content warnings: I try to think of what might offend ANYONE about this book. This is by no means a list of what offended me. At all. I'm just trying to help everyone
This is a great book, and it is the 7nth book in the HIVE series, it is a great book and it is packed with action. it is a book for anybody that loves action and a small flare of harry potter. this book has a lot of twist and makes you not to put it down.
