No Longer a Slumdog: Bringing Hope to Children in Crisis
But through a miraculous event, Nadish found his way back into the loving embrace of his mother. Dr. K.P. Yohannan’s book, No Longer a Slumdog, unveils the true-life accounts of many of South Asia’s children, like Nadish. The message hits hard. He speaks of “winds of change” and a powerful move of God.
The children’s stories tell of going from a life of heartache and poverty to finding joy, laughter and a bright future. Despite the affliction these children face, Yohannan shows us there’s opportunity for change as many find new life in God’s redeeming love.
No Longer a Slumdog inspires faith that a better tomorrow is truly possible.
This is no ordinary book! It is more of a biography of literally millions of children who are finding that the power of God is far greater than their own desperate circumstances. The author shares unimaginable stories of boys and girls who have walked a myriad of paths. Many tragedies move you to tears while others find you rejoicing with those who have been rescued out of the darkness and now know the love of Jesus through BOH (Bridge of Hope). I was deeply touched in hearing about a girl named
by Andrea Renee CoxNo Longer a Slumdog was an eye-opening book about the children of India who live in the slums. It's heartbreaking to hear about the atrocities committed against these innocents. It really makes me treasure the blessings God has bestowed upon me and appreciate even more the opportunities to help the people around me. This book reiterated to me how important it is for me to do what I can to make a difference in my corner of the world. The reason I marked this at three stars is
This book was decent. It was a brief take on poverty in India and the work that Gospel for Asia does with their Bridge of Hope centers there. As someone who is already very familiar with the subject, it was a quick read for me and mainly just covering ground I was already aware of. A solid 3 stars.
This book breaks my heart, and makes me thankful for those who have enough compassion, faith and Jesus-like hearts to reach out to the hurting, hopeless and hungry. How many hurting people do we walk past? Or even how many are there around us every single day that are hungry for Jesus, swimming in despair, hurting like we can't even imagine and yet we pass them by, fail to seek them out, neglect to love them like our Saviour loved us. Let us be people so filled with love for our Saviour that we
I liked it and it was interesting but instead of personal accounts and how his group saved these kids, it was more like a 200 page commercial for "Save the Children." I thought the push at the end for "$35 a month" on every page was a little much. They could have said if you want to help, go to this website or something a little more subdued. I felt at times like I was reading a fundraising pamphlet.

“He would lock me in a small room with the animals. Days turned into weeks, and my stomach would growl. He never gave me enough to eat,” said Nadish. “Weeks turned into months, and my body would ache. The work was hard, and there was never enough time to rest. Months turned into years, and I began to think that this would never end.”But through a miraculous event, Nadish found his way back into the loving embrace of his mother. Dr. K.P. You cannot read this book and not be moved. This book opens your eyes to a world of truth: we are rich here in North America. I was touched from the beginning of the book to the end. Your heart bleeds for these million of children who suffer daily. We are BLESSED to have a house, clothes and belongings and next time we want to feel sorry for ourselves, let us pray for and remember theses children who would trade places with us, without a second thought. I recommend this book to every one ThankThis is no ordinary book!
