This book is one of my favorites! I think this book is the definition of imagination and creativity! This book reminds me of the Fancy Nancy books because of the imagination, independence and creativity of both characters. Great book to introduce to four or five year olds because they are really independent and imaginative at that age!I absolutely love this book. I picked it up at Goodwill on a whim because it looked like a strong female character in a children's book. I was correct! Not only that, but the pup looks like one I had in my not-to-distant past. The book promotes entertaining oneself, imagination, and not relying on others. This book would be a great read for young ladies of all ages, but young boys too. (I plan to frame some of the pages of this book, as they're beautifully illustrated as well.)
A nice little book for young girls.
Ladybug Girl's costume box includes a pirate, a ballerina, a witch, a movie star, a princess, a native american, an astronaut, a unicorn, a flower, a detective, a pilot, a fairy princess, an artist, a mermaid, a tiger, and a djinn. Wow.And yet this and all her other stories feature her as Ladybug Girl, with her dog BINGO (of course!).In this first installment she struggles with being "too little" to play ball with her older brother and his friends.
I love the illustrations, including the ones on the inside front and back covers. The facial expressions on Lulu (AKA Ladybug girl) and the expressiveness of her dog Bingo are just wonderful. The illustrations are most of what make this book appealing.I also appreciated how the story showed how a young child can use her imagination to have a terrific time playing by herself.The funniest page (probably because I remember this so well from my childhood and from many children that Ive known over
Ladybug Girl (Lulu) and her sidekick Bingo go on many adventures together in this series. Lulu is a courageous, imaginative girl. When cloaked in her ladybug girl costume she feels capable of taking on new adventures and solving problems. Beautifully written, sweet stories with charming illustrations to enjoy time and time again.
Wonderful imaginative story. I read this regularly with my 5 year old son. After reading the story, we could go for walks, looking for fairy tea gardens and old gnarled wizard trees. It's a really nice story.
