It's the kind of book that gives a teenage girl peace, that it's okay to not be in love; and hope, that true love will come in its own time. That's the thing I love most about this book, it supports the idea that true love exists, and that you shouldn't rush into any random relationship, because when true love happens it's absolutely amazing. It's a great theme, especially since so many books nowadays discreetly support modern beliefs that a persons sexual life is to be shared with many people,This is good, clean YA fun. It gave me a similar reading experience to The Babysitters' Club of my own YA days, though the content is totally different. I enjoyed Sierra as a character, and I think Jones Gunn's portrayal of some of the inner struggles of a Christian teen was well-done. We're not talking about tackling really deep, dark stuff, here. Just the normal, day-to-day things everyone faces at one point or another--spiritually, romantically, with family dynamics, etc. I enjoyed it!
It was really cool to meet Sierra Jensen and learn about her life. I have been a huge fan of Christy Miller since I was in middle school and still enjoy coming back to her story, but I have never before read about some of her other Forever Friends. It was interesting to see a different character, and one that I seemed to relate to a little bit more, and how the author developed her story as well as intertwining it with the already established Christy Miller series. I will definitely enjoy
For whatever reason I was able to connect to Sierra twice as much as Christy. Maybe it was because when I started Sierra Jensen, I was closer to her age and totally knew how it felt to be the youngest among my closest friends. Sierra's wise insights about and her relationship with God amazed me and I loved her story to death! If you like Robin Jones Gunn's Christy Miller books, PLEASE READ THIS!
I saw these books on my cousin's bookshelf back in middle school. Then in high school, I read Christy and Sierra and Katie. What is so cool to me is how I relate to each of these girls in different ways. Even now, five years later, I'm still finding stuff in them that touches me. I still struggle with never having had a boyfriend; with the fact that no guy has ever shown interest in me. Sierra has it right, it messes with your self-confidence.
