Description To Books A Gift of Grace (Kauffman Amish Bakery #1)

Take a trip to Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, where you’ll meet the women of the Kauffman Amish Bakery in Lancaster County. As each woman’s story unfolds, you will share in her heartaches, trials, joys, dreams … and secrets. You’ll discover how the simplicity of the Amish lifestyle can clash with the “English” way of life—and the decisions and consequences that follow. Most importantly, you will be encouraged by the hope and faith of these women, and the importance they place on their families.

Rebecca Kauffman’s tranquil Old Order Amish life is transformed when she suddenly has custody of her two teenage nieces after her "English" sister and brother-in-law are killed in an automobile accident. Instant motherhood, after years of unsuccessful attempts to conceive a child of her own, is both a joy and a heartache. Rebecca struggles to give the teenage girls the guidance they need as well as fulfill her duties to Daniel as an Amish wife. Rebellious Jessica is resistant to Amish ways and constantly in trouble with the community. Younger sister Lindsay is caught in the middle, and the strain between Rebecca and Daniel mounts as Jessica’s rebellion escalates. Instead of the beautiful family life she dreamed of creating for her nieces, Rebecca feels as if her world is being torn apart by two different cultures, leaving her to question her place in the Amish community, her marriage, and her faith in God.

Judge About Books A Gift of Grace (Kauffman Amish Bakery #1)
3.5 stars. I didn't like this one as much as the Amish Heirloom series, I think because Rebecca and Daniel were already married and I missed seeing their courtship. This one had more conflict between the English and Amish ways of life. I felt bad for Jessica and Lindsay and I wish the book had went into more detail about how they dealt with the grieving process. I think it's a good sign that I didn't like this as well as the Amish Heirloom series because the author wrote this series first and I

I can't really describe my feelings for this book. I originally enjoyed it about a year and a half ago (Jan 2013) but now rereading it, I realized that while I still do like it, I also noticed some things I didn't like.I do like the plot, in a way. The girls parents died in an accident and now have to live with their Amish aunt and uncle and learn how to adjust some to their strong Christian values and simple way of living. I felt pained for Jessica and Lindsay, because I know how hard the loss

Ok this might be a bit of a bias review, but I just dont like Amish Romance books... this was just a huge MEH😂 I had a hard time making myself finish it...

This book is about two teenaged girls whose parents die in a tragic accident and are sent to live with their aunt and her husband in the Amish community in Pennsylvania. One girl adjusts much easier and better than her sister. Reading this book really opened my eyes to the way of the Amish and taught me about a whole other culture. It also taught me , as a Christian, that what I hear and believe sometimes, may not necessarily be what God is wanting me to hear and believe. An excellent book for

4.5 starsIn A Gift of Grace, Rebecca Kauffman gets custody of her two English nieces after both their parents die in a car accident. Unable to have children of her own, Rebecca finds her nieces coming to live with her to be a gift. However, seeing how the oldest of the two girls seems to have a hard time adjusting to Amish ways, Daniel Kaffman, Rebecca's husband, is not so sure the girls are meant to stay in his household.I was expecting A Gift of Grace to be a light an slow-paced novel, like

Oh My Gosh, this book was amazing. This book talks about healing, forgiveness and really listening to God. Yes this book is amish however this book is about a struggle through 2 english teenages, and the life of an amish family, and the loss of many things. I think anyone who reads this book will see that they can relate to one of the characters in this book some how some way. When you start this book I would suggest that you grab a box of tissues, it will be needed. This book is the first book

I loved this book - adored it - until the end. I will read the other books in the series because I enjoyed the characters enough to want to know what happens next. But I simply can't get over what happened at the end of the book that led to my disappointment.(view spoiler)[As a woman who has struggled with infertility, it was surprising (and a little refreshing) to discover a book with an Amish woman who is also infertile - who has been told by a doctor that she can never naturally conceive.
